​Dr. Christopher D. Kooning
It was always a dream of Dr. Kooning to return to Lake Oswego and start his own practice. He has worked in several dental settings, including corporate dentistry, and brings a unique perspective to procedures and treatment planning. It’s most important to him that you have conservative, thoughtful and honest assessment of your current condition, so that you can make the best possible decision(s) about your care. He is also dedicated to the idea that the pace of treatment is dictated by you.
Dr. Christopher Kooning is a Portland native. He was raised in Lake Oswego and is a proud graduate of La Salle High School. He attended Oregon State University and received his dental Doctorate from the Oregon Health Sciences University in 2009, in the footsteps of his father, Dr. Jan Kooning. During college and dental school, he served for six years in the United States Army Reserve.
Every patient is different and has a sense of urgency about what is needed that is particular to them. Dr. Kooning will help you make corrections to your dental health in a way that make you feel comfortable, while always being concerned with your comfort and satisfaction.
Another thing that Dr. Kooning feels strongly about is family. Our team and our patients all compromise a type of family and we enthusiastically welcome all ages into our office. Please, see for yourself the difference our team can make in your life – and in your health.

Risa - Office Manager
We’re thrilled to introduce you to our office manager, Risa! Not only is she the first person you’ll hear on the phone when you call us, but she’s the first and last person you’ll see in our office. Risa is the welcoming smile at Kooning Family Dentistry. She enjoys meeting patients and working to ensure they have the best experience possible. She has been in the dental industry for over eight years.

Risa was born in American Samoa and raised in California. When not at work, she loves spending family time with her husband Taleni and their five children: Florence, Maxyne, Trinity, Terrant, and Terrell. She also enjoys playing sports and listening to music. Our work lives have been vastly improved since she joined our team, and we know you will appreciate her knowledge and skill as well.

Guillermo - Hygienist
Guillermo Gori, our hygienist, was born in Argentina and lived in Italy and Spain before coming to the US in 2013. While living abroad, he studied industrial design and communication and worked in advertising. He graduated from Portland Community College’s rigorous hygiene program in 2018, along with Dr. Kooning’s sister Kaylie.
When he isn’t working, you can find him traveling to visit friends in other countries and discovering different cultures and places. His hobbies include graphic design and photography, playing soccer, swimming, and rock climbing. Be sure to ask him about his two little dogs, Lili and Picchio.

​Tana - Assistant
Tana is our primary chairside assistant, and the person who will help you through both large and smaller procedures. She has very deft hands and spends most of her day supporting Dr. Kooning, both by passing instruments and by making sure you are comfortable and relaxed. She also organizes our office and keeps us fully stocked with supplies – no easy task, since we are all very busy! In 2010, Tana received her Dental Assisting Certification from Carrington College, where she was inducted into the Alpha Beta Kappa honor society.
She started working for Dr. Kooning in a different office in 2012 and followed him to ours in 2015. She truly enjoys her position in our office, and patients like you. Tana and her husband Cory have three daughters: Cloey, Lily and Lisa. She enjoys spending time with her family (including puppy Chewy), bowling, and crafting with her girls.
